I’ve been growing increasingly conscious of the way the word “successful” is used. More often than not being successful translates as being at the top of your profession or having a good amount of money. I would argue against this definition which negates the success that many people experience. For the person wracked with anxiety being successful can mean getting out of bed and showing up for work. For the person feeling trapped in their job, successful can be taking the first step in applying for a new one.
It’s important to recognise, acknowledge and define what our own version of successful is. It’s all too easy to measure ourselves against a definition of success that is not applicable to our lives.
What is successful for you? How can you identify for your own success? If you’d like some support to find out then send me a message.
